The Greenbrier resort in Greenbrier County, West Virginia (the town of White Sulphur Springs, to be precise, which is much lovelier than it may sound), is fairly well know. Most of us have heard about its famous bunker, refuge for Presidents and governmental higher ups — but that definitely is not all this beautiful luxury resort has to offer.
Keep in mind, your humble writer is speaking from experience, having grown up about half an hour away from the town of White Sulphur Springs.
The Greenbrier is something of an anomaly, simply because due to preconceptions of West Virginia, no one would really expect to find such a luxurious destination there. However, in addition to being able to enjoy the resort’s world renowned golf course and its many activities, you are also smack dab in the middle of some of the most beautiful mountains you will ever hope to see. Winter or summer, spring or fall, a visit to the Greenbrier is definitely worth the trip.
