04.03.10 Starwood Hotels — They Are Popping Up Everywhere! 0

Now, I am not the biggest Starwood fan in the world, I am Marriott all the way, but that comes from my experience working inside of Marriott’s global company and knowing the service and values. Starwood however is doing some amazing things and I can tell you for sure that they are coming up with some the trendiest hotels now.

Starwood as a whole has actually been pumping about $6 billion dollars into overhauling the Sheraton brand and has actually taken their name off of at least three dozen hotels just because they have not met the newest standards that Starwood is setting forth.

This hotel though, the one in the heart of Time Square is actually being deflagged in April, just because this particular hotel is not met the standards. However, it will undergo renovation of $90 million dollars and when it’s done? It will be an incredible hotel.

Whenever you are traveling in New York, you have to make sure that you are staying at a hotel that reflects a lot of the New York fashion. New York is one of those places that I absolutely love to visit, summer, spring, winter or fall – the season does not matter at all!

With spring right around the corner though, I have to say that I am super excited about the Andaz Wall Street. This is actually one Hyatt hotel that I would love to stay at and it is actually in the financial district of New York. Not only is this hotel one of the best in the world for New York, but look at the rooms.

Come on, that bed, the chair, the pillows, the desk? It all screams New York and looks pretty darn chic!

09.19.09 Aloft Dallas Downtown Hotel Opens … It’s Here! 0

When it comes to hotels – the constant waiting for a hotel to open is something that many people hate. Well, finally, the Aloft Dallas Downtown Hotel has opened its doors and it is going to be the first from the brand to actually open up in Dallas proper. While there are three other Aloft properties nearby, there are none in Dallas.

The building for the Aloft Dallas Downtown Hotel is actually a historic building. Its former lives involved an eight-story structure that was built in 1924. It used to be a railroad terminal and a dry good warehouse, now the hotel is there. Aloft kept a lot of the buildings original features, including the beautiful brick exterior.

The rates themselves start around $159.00 per night and they are so worth it! This incredible hotel is beautiful on the outside and inside and it includes free internet! What could be better?

By far – one of my favorite designers is the hip, chic and ever-so-stylish Betsey Johnson. Her designs are beautiful and finally, she is breaking into the hotel business and has decided to design a family suite at the Plaza Hotel. The suite is going to be inspired by Kay Thompson’s storybook character Eloise and it is actually going to be incredible!

The color of choice will be pink and with Betsey Johnson’s beautiful design talent, she is going to be able to give a whimsical and beautiful feel to the entire room. Along with the distinct hue, the suite will actually be designed for parents that are visiting New York with their kids. It will feature two separate bedrooms, which is great!

As soon as Betsey Johnson finishes wrapping up her collection for New York Fashion Week, she will start designing this beautiful suite and if you are rich – you should definitely keep tabs on when it will be finished!

Now – you are probably thinking that I am crazy to be doing a luxury hotel post on West Virginia, but I have to say that The Greenbrier is actually one of the most beautiful hotels in the world. This little slice of heaven is located in the lush Allegheny Mountains and is actually a natural historic landmark resort. It is famous for its beautiful landscape and outstanding service – not to mention the building itself!

There are more than fifty activities to do right on the grounds, including golf, horseback riding, swimming, carriage rides and all sorts of treatments at the spa. The Greenbrier is one of the premier resorts of everyone that is coming to WV and I have to say that – it is beautiful outside and in.

If you are looking for a place to stay whenever you come to West Virginia, The Greenbrier is going to be the place for you!

When you think about it – the most important thing to me whenever I am vacation is going to be where I go and where I stay. If you are looking to have a luxury vacation, it can be difficult to find not only the perfect destination, but also the perfect accommodations. Well, that is not the case when you come to Walland Tennessee!

This is the place that is home of the Blackberry Farm – some of the best and most luxurious accommodations in the world. This beautiful mountain resort actually lies in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and when you look at it – it is absolutely breathtaking. The Blackberry Farm features all sorts of fireplaces, verandas and antiques.

Also, there is a slew of activities that you can do on your visit. Spas, horseback riding, wine events, food, fishing and hiking can all be things that you do with you friends and family when you come here!

When you know that you are going to want luxury – what is the first type of hotel that you think about? Well, I know that the very first hotel that comes to my mind is The Four Seasons in NYC. This incredible and beautiful hotel is actually the definition of luxury – it has some of the largest suites in the world and they have some beautiful meeting space available … so if you are having a meeting and want it in the lap of luxury, you should have it there!

The great thing about this particular hotel? Is that they truly know how to take care of their guests. I mean, you are paying out the rear to stay there, but the people are actually really nice and anything that you could ever want for or need, they are willing to bend themselves over backwards in order to accommodate exactly what you need … anytime at all!

The Four Seasons is the best hotel in NYC and it is one hotel that is not only historical, but it is also one hotel that has been around for quite a while and is still as luxurious as you probably remember!

07.15.09 Hilton Hotel and Suites Niagara Falls: Canada’s Tallest Hotel! 1

Now of course, I am a Marriott girl myself but when I saw that the Hilton has a hotel that is super tall, totally luxurious and absolutely incredible looking in Niagara Falls on the Canada side – well, maybe I will stay at that particular Hilton. This property is actually the tallest hotel in Canada and it is about the height of five – yes, five football fields put together. This hotel in particular has about one thousand rooms in there and I have to say that it is beautiful.

Niagara Falls, while not a luxury vacation for some can be made into a luxury location. To be perfectly honest, I think that seeing Niagara Falls up close and personal is something that everyone should go through no matter where they stay – however, this Hilton is definitely on the top ten list of places to stay in Niagara Falls.

So take your family on a luxury vacation to the Hilton hotel in Niagara Falls and I promise that you will love it and you will be right up close to those falls!

07.05.09 Renaissance Boston Hotel and Spa at Patriot Place Opens: It’s One Hotel To See! 0

Now I know, when I think of Boston I do not think luxury, however – with the Renaissance Boston Hotel and Spa at Patriot Place just opening, I think that Boston will become quite a premier hot spot for a lot of different celebrities and even travelers looking for a bit of luxury. The location is actually perfect as it is opposite of the Gillette Stadium and all of the interior of this particular hotel is extremely chic and sleek. The Renaissance Boston Hotel and Spa at Patriot Place is one of the best hotels … and most upscale hotels in Boston now and it is in the perfect location.

You can pretty much walk anywhere you might want to go as it is central to a lot of different outlet shopping as well as a very high-end spa that opened at the end of June. Patriot fans that are looking for a place with a little class can enjoy the Renaissance Boston Hotel and Spa at Patriot Place and while the hotel might not have enough meeting space in it – they just opened, give them some time!

07.04.09 theWit Chicago Officially Opens: Finally, It’s Here 0

If there is one hotel that Chicago has been waiting to open, it is going to be theWit, a Doubletree Hotel. While I have always been a Marriott Fan (I work for Marriott Hotels after all!), I think that I might actually have to check out theWit whenever I go to Chicago next. This hotel just opened a few weeks ago and to be honest, while the rate may seem high at $199.00 per night, it might actually be worth it. This hotel is 27-floors and has 283 rooms in it.

The lightening bolt that graces the front is actually extremely cool looking and travelers who stay here will actually be only about 2 blocks from Michigan Avenue! That means that the Art Institute of Chicago as well as the Ford Center and the Civic Opera House are all within walking distance. The hotel could not be closer and it honestly looks pretty cool.

In the rooms and the suites, the guests will see the 42-inch flat screens, a lot of velvet chaise loungers and some of the quirkiest and funkiest artwork in the world. So check it out, I think it fits right in with Chicago!
